What are Reefer Containers and How Do They Work?

Posted by

Have you ever heard about the Reefer containers? Also, referred to as refrigerated containers, these new and used reefer containers are built to store and deliver temperature-sensitive goods.

To keep the temperature at an optimal level, these containers feature a built-in refrigeration unit that connects to a power source like a gen-set or three phase direct power supply.

What Can You Do with a Reefer/Refrigerated Container?

After getting a container from a Refrigerated Container Rental in Uttar Pradesh, you can use it to store temperature-sensitive goods like fruits and vegetables, meat, fish, milk, dairy products, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and more.

How Does a Reefer Container Work?

As mentioned, reefer containers are used to store temperature-sensitive goods, and they do this by maintaining the temperature, humidity, and atmosphere of the container at a constant value.

When using a reefer container, keep in mind these four settings:

Temperature: When it comes to the temperature, most new and used refrigerated containers are designed to maintain an optimal temperature between +25°C to -25°C for chilled and frozen goods. Then there are specialized blast freezer containers that can maintain a temperature down to -70°C and incubators that goes upto +100°C.

Ventilation: Another thing is ventilation, for goods that need chilling, a continuous airflow is a must to remove heat and gases. On the other hand, for frozen goods, the air must flow around.

Humidity: A reefer container also comes with a customized dehumidification model which can lower the level of moisture in the air.

Drains: These are generally used to release the excess water or liquid that accumulates inside the containers.

Furthermore, these containers are equipped with microprocessors that record temperature data on display, including supply and return air temperatures, defrost activity, and more.

Reefer Container Sizes

Reefer/refrigerated containers are generally available in two sizes: 40-foot and 20-foot refrigerated containers.

Conclusion

These are some of the important things about the reefer/refrigerated containers. When storing temperature-sensitive goods like dairy, meat, fruits & vegetables, make sure to opt for a refrigerated container from a trusted service provider.
